Abstract:
Restorative Justice (RJ) is an approach within the criminal justice system that focuses on restoring the relationships between the offender, victim, and society. This approach offers a more humane alternative compared to the traditional justice system, which tends to prioritize punishment. This article aims to explore the concept of RJ in relation to victim rights protection and how this approach can provide more comprehensive justice while considering the rights of the victim. Using a qualitative approach with a literature review, this research finds that RJ not only offers victims the opportunity to receive acknowledgment and healing but also helps offenders take responsibility and amend their wrongdoings. However, challenges in implementing RJ in Indonesia remain, especially regarding legal regulations and the readiness of the judicial system to adopt it. Therefore, further efforts are needed to integrate RJ into Indonesia's criminal justice system in order to provide more humane and inclusive justice.
